Dawn, Jenny, and d.j. freshie

d.j. freshie
is a unique approach to jewelry design by Dawn Estrin, George Wilson, and Jenny Mendes.

Friends since the second grade, Jenny Mendes and Dawn Estrin grew up in the suburban neighborhood of University Heights, Ohio.  Many a day was spent goofing off, making fun of classmates, and playing 2nd chair violin (badly) next to each other in Mr. DiPippo’s orchestra class.

Dawn and Jenny

They went their separate ways in college, Jenny as a fine arts student at Washington University in St. Louis, and Dawn as the same at the University of Cincinnati.

Ten years ago they started their own business ventures in the art world. Jenny as a ceramics artist and Dawn as a jeweler. They have joined forces once again, along with Dawn’s husband George Wilson, to create a new line of jewelry called d.j. freshie.

d.j. freshie is a unique approach to jewelry design which features images originally done by Jenny as individual hand painted ceramic plates. Dawn photographs and prints these images in miniature, printing them on an archival paper.  They are then hand set into sterling silver settings that are designed and made by Dawn and George.

The jewelry is not waterproof and should be handled carefully. The protective plexiglass surface may be cleaned with a tiny amount of rubbing alcohol on a Q-tip.
